If you first set the egg on an empty bottle, the air pressure inside the bottle matches the air pressure outside, so nothing happens. But when you pour some hot water into the bottle, it causes the air inside to heat up and expand rapidly, so some of the air in the bottle gets out. When the egg is put on the bottle, the air pressure outside of the bottle pushes the egg into the bottle. The result is an unbalanced force – the force of the air pushing on the egg from outside the bottle is greater than the force of the air pushing up on it from inside the bottle.
